Dirty chat without having to pay for membership
In all this time I’ve only encountered one “Dirty Man” but I’ve seen more than my fill of “Dirty Ladies.” My husband, who also plays on Pogo, has been hunted, chased, tormented, harangued and followed because of his player name by women who either assume that because of his player name he is a filthy old man or for whatever reason assume he’s so well endowed that they have to just have him.
Case in point one “lady” who, even though she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that my husband is married (his profile as well as mine emphatically state that we are married to each other and happily), chased him for 6 months making every attempt to convince him to leave me and our family for her.
After chatting with the other players it was discovered that this lady had not just tried this routine on my husband but on other’s as well.
She had even gone so far as to use pitiful stories to gain sympathy and money from other players.
So, please do not give them the number of the police department fire department hospital, business, or a supposed made up number!!
It’s irresponsible and could lead to unwanted consequences.
With the ability now to go online and do a search of the number and get the address of that person. The best advice is to either ignore the attention seeking person (male or female) or mute them.
If the talk is salacious enough to be a Terms of Service offense, then report them.
My suggestion to all players is that just because you hide behind a “alternate identity” doesn’t mean you have to act out your fantasies. Just sign me, The Coinkeeper Thank you for your letter, and for not accusing me of having a sexist slant.
She used sad stories, hard luck stories, Pogo gifts, messages, chats etc to convince him he would be better off without me and our family.
The final straw came when she began telling other players that my husband had promised to leave me for her and my husband was then confronted by these other players as was I.
Netiquette, Why am I not surprised that you wouldn’t divulge the whole truth about ‘dirty’ people on Pogo? Netiquette, 4/25/13) The fact of the matter is that there are just as many, and probably more, dirty women on Pogo.
The fact that you refused to mention this in your column proves your very sexist slant.
Not all stories are true not all people are kind and a little wariness on everyone’s part might save you a great deal of wasted, time, money and hard feelings. Really, at its core this issue is simply about respect for others.
